Cambridge's only student-led gateway to one of the world's greatest biotech ecosystems
Founded in 2021, the Cambridge University Biotech Society is Cambridge's only student-led organisation dedicated to making biotech accessible to undergraduates. We connect students directly with the city's world-class ecosystem — from spinout founders and life science VCs to leading academics and industry professionals — fostering a new generation of biotech entrepreneurs.
Every Thursday we host leading academics, biotech founders, and industry professionals for talks and fireside chats — from RNA biology to building a successful startup. Past speakers include professors from the University of Cambridge and founders of Cambridge spinouts.
We run networking evenings in collaboration with organisations like Nucleate, bringing together students, investors, and founders. We also take part in inter-society socials including the Cambridge STEM Societies Garden Party.
From our inaugural Bio-Innovation Hackathon — challenging teams to tackle food and water security — to collaborations with the Oxford University Biotech Society at the OxBio Summit, we connect our members with the broader biotech world beyond Cambridge.
Events are free for members and £5 on the door for non-members.
Membership gives you access to our talks, workshops, and networking events throughout the year.
